THE LANDFILL DEAL STINKS

TELL THE COUNTY TO FIX IT !

The WILLIAMSON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT is very close to voting on a landfill operating contract and massive landfill expansion with Waste Management, Inc. (WMI) that could be very detrimantal to county residents and taxpayers.  (FootNote 1)

CONTACT YOUR COUNTY OFFICIALS AND INSIST THAT THEY:

... ABANDON their secretive, closed-door process that seeks to bring this contract to an up-or-down vote without a 30-day comment period. (FootNote 2)

... STOP MOVING FORWARD with a landfill expansion that is not supported by a long-term, solid-waste management plan and doesn't include a significant recycling and compost program. (FootNote 3)

... PROTECT A TAXPAYER ASSET that may be worth more than $50 million by removing WMI's name from the permit expansion application so the permit remains under the county's ownership. (Footnote 4)

... SEEK COMPETITIVE BIDS on the landfill contract renewal which could generate over $150 million in revenue for the county over the next 25 years. (Footnote 5)

... PREVENT our county landfill from becoming a regional receptable for trash from across Central Texas. (FootNote 6).

The County Commissioners May Vote Any Tuesday
